Robert “Bob” P. Floss, 82, of Baxter, died Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Newton Village. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 16, 2026, at the First Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to First Lutheran Church or Central Iowa Outdoors Without Boundaries can be left at the church on the day of the funeral or at the funeral home.
Bob, the son of Eugen Hans and Marie Caroline (Schumann) Floss, was born June 10, 1943, in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Baxter High School. Bob was united in marriage with Judy Kay Dunsbergen on February 2, 1963, at the First Lutheran Church in Newton. Bob was a lifelong farmer and passionate about on-farm conservation practices being honored with the 2019 Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and collecting Case IH toy tractors and A&W Root Beer mugs. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church serving in many capacities including the church council. One of his fondest activities was helping people with physical limitations enjoy hunting deer and turkey on his farm.
Those left to honor Bob’s memory include his sons, Craig (Karen) Floss of West Des Moines and Mark Floss of Baxter; 6 grandchildren: Brennan (Kayla) Floss, Caleb Floss, Jarrett Floss, Keaton (fiancé, Cassidy) Floss, Tristan Floss, and Jordan Floss; his great-grandson, Keenan Henderson; his brother, Richard (Bev) Floss; brothers-in-law, Earl (Vivian) Dunsbergen and Gary (Deb) Dunsbergen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy.
