Robert “Bob” Eugene Marshall, 80, of Newton died on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at his son’s home in Onawa. A visitation will be held from 10-12 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Following the visitation a committal of Bob's ashes will take place at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Memorials in Bob’s name (checks made payable to Rod Marshall) may be left at the funeral home.
Bob, the son of James Frank and Margaret (Koder) Marshall, was born on July 17, 1944 in Newton. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967.
On December 30, 1967, Bob was united in marriage with Linda Shultz at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. They first made their home in Newton before building a home in Reasnor. Bob worked for many years as a supervisor for the telephone company. Later Bob and Linda moved to rural Prairie City before moving back to Newton in 1995. Bob first retired from the telephone company in 1991 before working 10 years in Research and Development for the Maytag Company. After retiring from Maytag, Bob drove HERTA bus because he still wanted some “fun money” for he and Linda to go on trips and to the casino.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors and like to go hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Newton Elks Lodge, Newton VFW, and the American Legions in Monroe, Kellogg, and Newton.
Those left to honor Bob’s memory are his two sons, Rod (Jaime) Marshall of Eddyville and Gene (Carrie) Marshall of Onawa; grandchildren, Justin Marshall, Jordan Marshall, Avery Marshall, Allen Marshall, Dixie Marshall, Alexious Batchfield (Crystal Dalldorf), Destiny Batchfield, Oliver Batchfield, and Ezekial Batchfield; and his brother-in-law, Jim Henning of Kellogg; He was preceded in death by his father, James Frank Marshall; mother, Margaret (Lawson) Bailey; wife, Linda in 2022; a grandson, Tyler Marshall; and sisters, Karen (Bill) Samuelson and Mary Henning.
