Robert “Bob” Lee Hilligas, 77, formerly of Reasnor, died on Monday, June 2, 2025, at West Ridge Nursing Home in Knoxville. No services are scheduled at this time.
Bob, the son of William and Doris (Thompson) Hilligas, was born on March 2, 1948. He grew up in the Prairie City area and graduated from Prairie City High School in 1966. After graduation, Bob served his country in the military during Vietnam. After returning Bob lived in the Monroe/Pleasantville areas. He and his brother-in-law, owned B&L DX gas station in Prairie City, then he worked at Rolscreen in Pella, before becoming an over the road truck driver. Bob enjoyed playing games and cards; especially cribbage. He was a supporter of the Wounded Warrior program and the local sheriff’s office. In 2001, Bob moved to Reasnor.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Angie (Henry) VanRees of Reasnor; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren including, Brad, Samantha, Tommy, Lane, Ethan, Bella, Ember, Jax, Skyler, Jayden, Lila, and Maisie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sandra, at birth.
