Roman Davis Rodriguez, 17, of Newburg died on Monday, March 24, 2025. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Roman’s name (checks to Justin Rodriguez) may be left at the funeral home.
Roman, the son of Justin Rodriguez and Gloria Banda was born on September 13, 2007, in Weslaco, Texas. Growing up Roman lived in many states, moving to Iowa a little over two years ago. Roman was a part of the class of 2026, attending school in Grinnell and Newton. He worked for Casey’s, first in Newton and most recently in Grinnell.
Roman was the oldest of his siblings and what a great big brother he was. From making sure his siblings were taken care of and safe, to leading them in Michael Jackson dance parties, his younger siblings adored him. Roman loved basketball and was the biggest Golden State and Stephen Curry fan. He also enjoyed rap music and playing video games with his friends. Roman was a fun, goofy kid who would light up any room he was in. He will be greatly missed by all.
Roman is survived by his father and step-mother, Justin and Cassandra Rodriquez of Newburg; mother, Gloria Banda of Texas; siblings, Analee, Sarahi, Kayleen, Alyssa, Justin, Jr., and Alexa Rodriquez; Ariel, Andy, and Siya Montalvan; and Mayte and Josue Hernandez; paternal grandfather, Jesse Rodriguez; maternal grandmother, Diana Landeros; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Victoria Rodriguez.
