Ronnie Snodgrass Obituary

Ronnie Dean Snodgrass, 73, of Newton, formerly of Grinnell, died on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. On the day that he died he gave his life to the Lord. The family will greet friends from 3-4 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. A private family burial will take place at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter. In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home. 

Ronnie, the son of Carrold and Lucille Snodgrass, was born on June 4, 1948, in Grinnell.  He grew up in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School. Immediately following high school Ronnie served his country in the U.S. Army.  After being honorably discharged he returned to Grinnell where he would live most of his life besides for a few years in Knoxville and most recently Newton. Ronnie worked as a truck driver, had managed gas stations, and had owned a car mechanic’s garage in Newton. He enjoyed drag racing and loved to hunt and fish.

Ronnie is survived by his son, C.C. (Brandy) Snodgrass of Knoxville; step-son, Shawn Hermes of Olin; grandchildren, Nathan Cowman, Jordan Cowman, Hope (Logan) Fischer, Britany Wecman, Jarred Lawson, Emliea Lawson, Catylin Hefley, and Darion Hermes; his great-grandchild, Braden Wecman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Donovan Snodgrass; and 3 sisters, Joyce Johnson, Phyllis Snodgrass, Marceil Sieck.
