Rose Mary (Putz) Hansen

Rose (Putz) Hansen, 85, of Newton, formerly of Reasnor, died on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her residence. A visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial at Rosemount Cemetery in Warren County, Iowa will be held at 2 p.m. Memorials in Rose’s name (checks payable to David Smith) may be left at the funeral home.

Rose, the daughter of Lewis and Margaret (Dittmer) Putz, was born April 29, 1939 in Warren County, Iowa. She graduated from Rose Mount School and was a member of the Metz Community Church. Rose went on to be a cafeteria cook at the Monroe School, Newton Nursing Home, and Newton Prison. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, bird watching, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her children, Becky (Don) Shroyer of Newton, Iowa, Debra (Richard) Skeen of Shapmansboro, Tennessee, Pam Ames of Duncombe, Iowa, David (Jocelyn) Smith of Reasnor, Iowa, Ron (Cindi) Smith of Mingo, Iowa, and Michael Smith of Superior, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mae Chambers, Carol (Dave) Wallace, and Sonya Putz. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bernard Putz, Jerome Putz, Larry Putz, Delbert Putz, Keith Putz, Jim Putz, Martin Putz, and Marvin Putz.
