Roselyn Ann (Wisecup) DeBruyn, 86, of Newton died on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the EveryStep Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. A private family graveside service will be held. Memorials to the EveryStep Kavanaugh House may be left at the funeral home.
Roselyn, the daughter of Torrence and Marie (Grady) Wisecup, was born on March 28, 1938, in Perry. She graduated from Waukee High School. On June 28, 1957, Roselyn was united in marriage with Charles DeBruyn in West Des Moines. For most of their married lives they made their home in Newton. Roselyn was a homemaker, raising the couple’s four children, Dave, Deb, Scott, and Donna. Through the years she would also work seasonally, including at the Maytag Dairy Farm and Big Bear. Roselyn was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church. She enjoyed bowling, biking, and crocheting. Roselyn was an excellent cook and baker; a family favorite was her chicken and noodles. She loved time spent with her family and was blessed to take care of all her grandchildren while they were growing up.
Roselyn is survived by her children, Dave (Rosela) DeBruyn of Newton, Deb DeBruyn of Walsenburg, Colorado, and Scott DeBruyn of Des Moines; grandchildren, Kara DeBruyn, Amanda (Sean) Sanchez, Marc DeBruyn, Devin White, and Kristina DeBruyn; her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Rowan Sanchez; a brother, Larry (Diane) Wisecup of Truro; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 2023; a daughter, Donna DeBruyn; and siblings, Carroll Wisecup and Sandy Oviatt.
