Sandra K. (Brewer) Lee

   Sandra K. (Brewer) Lee, 74, of Newton, formerly of Altoona, died Friday, December 6, 2024, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Memorials to St. Nick's Christmas Club or Hope Ministries can be left at the funeral home.

   Sandra, the daughter of Ernest Lester and Virginia Lee (Vermillion) Brewer, was born August 27, 1950, in Knoxville, Tennessee. She grew up in Knoxville and graduated from high school there.  She was united in marriage with Barrie Lee on October 3, 1970, in Knoxville.  Sandra had worked the lunch shift at McDonald’s so she could be home when her sons came home from school. Raising her children was by far her favorite job. She  later worked at Iowa State Bank and Principal Financial. Sandra enjoyed crocheting until she was no longer physically able.

   Sandra died at the age of 74 on Friday, December 6, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Virginia Kay Lee; and her brothers, Wayne Brewer and Michael Brewer.

   Those left to honor Sandra’s memory include her husband, Barrie of Newton; her sons, Kieth (Darci) Lee of Sequim, Washington and Mike Lee of Newton; her granddaughter, Katelyn Higgins; her brother, James (Marlene) Brewer of Braxton, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.
