Scott W Hauschildt

Scott Wilson Hauschildt, 56, of Newton died on Friday, June 5, 2026.  A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will greet friends after the service at the funeral home.  The family requests that you dress casually and wear your favorite team t-shirt. Go Hawks!  Memorials to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital may be left at the funeral home.

Scott, the son of Don and Mary (Wilson) Hauschildt, was born on April 27, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa.  He grew up in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1988.  Scott then attended the University of Iowa and continued to live in the Iowa City area for several years.  In 1998, he moved to Newton and shortly after met Amanda Burns.  They were married on June 10, 2000, in Newton.  Scott first worked at Progress Industries and then at Pella Corporation for 21 years. Most recently he was a Program Manager at Balance Autism. 

Scott never knew a stranger and befriended everyone he met.  His heart and compassion for others shown through in everything he did and was especially evident in his writing and posts he made for family and friends on special occasions. Scott had an incredible knack for remembering trivia, movie lines, birthdays, and moments in time. It was hard to win an argument when he could always remember the exact day and time something had happened.  His love and passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes was huge, but nothing compared to his love for his boys, who he loving called his “Gentlemen”.  He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball with them. Scott also was an avid weightlifter and enjoyed fishing.

Scott is survived by his wife, Amanda Hauschildt of Newton; sons, Wilson and Mason Hauschildt; his mother, Mary Hauschildt; siblings, Jon (Jen) Hauschildt, Jason (Brittany) Hauschildt, and Mark (Ambre) Hauschildt; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father, Don Hauschildt.
