Stephen R. Catlett

Stephen R. Catlett, 58, of Newton, died Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials in Steve’s name (made payable to Brian Hammer) can be left at the funeral home.

   Steve, the son of Gary and Judy Catlett, was born April 6, 1962, in California. His family moved to Newton when he was 10.  Steve had worked at Swift, Maytag, and the Iowa Speedway.  He loved music, going to concerts, working on cars, and going to the races.

   Steve is survived by his son, Brian Hammer; grandchildren: Kynzyr, Brooks, Aiden, Beau, Brian, Bailey, Jordan, and Madison; his mother, Judy Catlett of Oregon; his siblings, Daryl (Amy) Catlett, Alaric (Michell) Catlett, and Angie Scull; his uncle, Don Catlett; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father.
