Steve, the son of William R. and Mildred L. (Hauenstein) Holdsworth, was born on November 23, 1951 in Oskaloosa.  His family moved to Newton when Steve was a young child.  Steve graduated from Newton High School in the Class of 1970, where he played drums and was a member of the pep band.  He later graduated from the University of Iowa’s College of Business.  On June 2, 1972, after meeting on a blind date, Steve was united in marriage with Barb Ferguson at the Congregational Church in Newton.  For 25 years Steve worked at the Maytag Company in Product Planning.  After Maytag closed, he worked in various positions that took he and Barb to both Algona and Marshalltown, before they retired in Lamoni in August of 2017.

Steve was a member of the NRA, Newton Jaycees, and DeMoley.  He loved animals and had rescued many.  Steve also enjoyed watching the wildlife at their home in Lamoni, fishing and kayaking. He liked going treasure hunting at flea markets and garage sales. Steve was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Steve is survived by his wife, Barb Holdsworth of Lamoni; children, Tiffany Menke (Jonathan Colby) of Ankeny, Christopher Holdsworth of Lamoni, and Adam Holdsworth (Mandy Boone) of Corning; his grandchildren, Andrew, Jaci, and Jacob Menke, Addison Lambert, and Thatcher Holdsworth; siblings, Pamela (Paul) Driscoll of Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania and John (Cathy) Holdsworth of Newton; his sister Lora’s children who Steve thought of as his own siblings, Mike (Cindy) Behun of Newton, Lori (Dave) Fisher of Merriweather, Michigan, Robert (Carol) Behun of Plano, and Jeremy (Chris) Behun of Montezuma; and his boys, Oscar Meyer and Mickey D.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lora in 1974.
