Susan Kay Bergfeld

Susan K. Bergfeld, 79, of Newton, died Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

   Susan, the daughter of Anton and Inez (Williams) Casper, was born November 15, 1946, in Iowa City. She grew up in Iowa City and attended City High.  She worked in the microfilm department at ACT for over 20 years. She then moved to Newton, where she worked as a direct support provider until her health forced her to retire in 2004.  She moved to Colorado for over 5 years before she returned to Iowa.  Susan enjoyed doing puzzles, playing online games with friends, fishing when she was able, hanging out with friends, and playing cards.  She loved music, especially R&B.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids.

   Susan is survived by her son, Brandon (Traci) Bergfeld of Newton; her grandchildren: Dawson, Kai, Braden, Rickane, and Amayah; her sisters: Pam Michael-Milder, Patty Springer, and Kris Casper; and several nieces and nephews, including her niece, Kathy, who was like a sister to her.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 siblings: Marilyn, Shirley, and Frances; two nephews, Brian and Thomas; and a great-niece, Heather.
