Teresa Lee (Parker) Powers

Teresa Lee Powers, 61, of Newton died on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at her home.  A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the DaVita Diaylsis Unit may be left at the funeral home.

Teresa, the daughter of Kenneth and Sharon (Pantry) Parker, was born on April 21, 1960 in Creston.  As a child she lived in many places while her dad worked for the railroad.  She graduated from Humboldt High School and then received her AA degree in accounting from DMACC.  Teresa lived in West Des Moines and worked for the State of Iowa in the Child Support Recovery Unit for many years and later for Wells Fargo.  After leaving Wells Fargo, Teresa wanted to live in a smaller town and moved to Newton. She was united in marriage with Keat Haycox on September 29, 2016 in Newton.  Teresa enjoyed crafts, all things mid-evil, collecting dragons, watching birds, and cooking and baking.  She especially loved being with her grandchildren.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Keat Haycox of Newton; children, Jennifer Goldsmith of Fort Dodge, Jessica Martin of Newton, Justene Barton of Des Moines, Phillip Staver, Jr. of Newton, and Jacinda Staver of Des Moines; step-children, Brandi Gordy of Boone, North Carolina and Dustyn Marie (Chris) Kiestler of Concord, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; her mother, Sharon Parker of Des Moines; siblings, Ted Parker of Cherokee, Diana Ford of Altoona, and Kirk Parker of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Parker.
