Teresa M (Baxter) Schultz

Teresa Maurine Schultz, 71, of Newton died on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at MercyOne Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials in Teresa’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Teresa, the daughter of Alvie and Ruth (Dodd) Baxter, was born on December 20, 1954, in Newton.  She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1973.  Teresa had a heart to help others, and she did that working at group homes for Progress Industries, Lutheran Services of Iowa, and most recently, Optimae.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Teresa was a talented artist. She also was a great cook and baker.

Teresa is survived by her children, Amanda Schultz of West Des Moines and Josh (Donna) Schultz of Newton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Dallas, Cameron, Angel, Adam, Brittany, and Karson; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Elena, Andrew, Emmet, and Liam with three more on the way; her siblings, Diana Hutchins, Scott (Karla) Baxter, and Vicki Moore; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Joan Murray and Lanora “Tink” Pendroy.
