Timmie Lee Townsend, 69, of Lyons, Oregon, formerly of Newton, died on April 4, 2026. A celebration of his life and lunch will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Immediately following, a graveside and military honors will take place at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials in Timmie’s name (checks to Stephanie Swift) may be left at the funeral home or the graveside.
Timmie, the son of Carroll and Darlene (Current) Townsend, was born on February 11, 1957, in Newton. He attended Newton Community Schools and was in the class of 1975. From February to November of 1974, Timmie served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1985, he moved to Oregon where he worked as a TV Repairman. After retirement, he used his love of motorcycles to repair and rebuild Harley Davidsons. Timmie was a founding member and past president of the NW Veteran’s Motorcycle Club in Oregon and a member of the American Legion. Throughout his life he enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and fishing. His grandchildren were his pride and joy!
Timmie is survived by his children, Stephen (Patti) Townsend of Lakewood, Colorado and Stephanie (Jamison) Swift of Baxter; stepson, Shawn (Melissa) Lane of Newton; grandchildren, Marcus (Aubri) Brimm, Selena (Nick) Tomassi, Madison Hammer, Marley Swift, Monroe Swift, Margo Swift, Brayden Townsend, and Samantha Lane; his great-grandson, Walker; brother, Brian (Debbie) Townsend of Prairie City; and his brother, Ghost. He was preceded in death by his parents.
