Timothy "Tim" T Kelly

Timothy “Tim” Terrance Kelly, 70, of Newton died on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at his home. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 18, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to St Jude Children’s Hospital or the Newton Booster Club may be left at the funeral home.

Tim, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Coop) Kelly, was born on April 29, 1954, in Newton. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1972. On March 21, 1975, Tim was married to Patricia Hagen in Grinnell. They spent time in Syracuse, New York and Lake Tahoe California, before returning to Newton in 1978. Tim worked for many years at Thombert, retiring in 2018.  He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Tim enjoyed golfing, watching football and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers.  He loved time spent with his family and friends or just hanging out in his garage.

Tim is survived by his sons, Sean (Stephanie) Kelly of Kansas City, Missouri and Scott Kelly of Sully; grandchildren, Caden, Bellamy, and Declan Kelly and Will and Evelyn Kelly; his siblings, Patrick Kelly of Bettendorf, Michael (Brenda) Kelly of Michigan, Teresa (Rick) Stewart of Newton, Lisa Cummins of Newton, and James Kelly of Texas; and his many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cynthia Kelly.
