Vimount A. Hughes, 67, of Newton died on Friday, July 24, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to Vimount’s family (checks made payable to Diana Hughes) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Vimount, the son of James and Laura (Fields) Lunney, was born on January 31, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from Parker High School. Vimount later moved to Newton, Iowa and was united in marriage with Diana Lindly on February 14, 2007. He worked in various manufacturing jobs. Vimount enjoyed playing scratch off tickets, cheering on the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, and spending time with his family.

Vimount is survived by his wife, Diana Hughes; children, Vimount Hughes, Vimount Hughes, Jr., Beth (Aaron) Andrew, and Jennette Resch; his siblings, Jimmy (Lisa) Hughes, Donald (Lynn) Hughes, Judy Kelley, and Dorothy Artist; brother-in-law, Don (Tammy) Lindly; sister-in-law, Doris Sloan; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Edward Hughes, Melvin Hughes, Isaac Hughes, William Hughes, Lily Bridge, Velma Hodges, Mary Broiba, Barbara Hughes, Robert Hughes, Diane Hughes, and Renee Hughes.
