William A. “Bill” Richtsmeier, 59, of Newton, died Sunday, November 17, 2024, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. No services are scheduled.
Bill, the son of Richard “Dick”, Sr. and Loretta (Rasmussen) Richtsmeier, was born December 6, 1964, in Oelwein. The family moved to Waterloo, where they lived until Bill was 13, when they moved to Newton. Bill served in the Iowa National Guard for 6 years. He then worked for the railroad for several years. He later worked at Midwest Manufacturing for 18 years until the time they closed. Bill enjoyed reading comic books, playing guitar, listening to old rock & roll music, watching horror movies, and playing video games. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time going shooting with his son.
Bill is survived by his children, Travis (Holly Keenan) Richtsmeier of Newton and Ashton Richtsmeier of Newton; his grandchildren, Kylie Richtsmeier and Kaitlyn Richtsmeier; his great-granddaughter, Sophia McGillivray; his parents, Dick and Loretta Richtsmeier of Newton; his brothers, Richard, Jr. “Rich” (Julie) Richtsmeier of Newton and Tim (Angie) Richtsmeier of Waukee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Richtsmeier.
