Wayne Pennock Obituary

 Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.  A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2020, at Newton Union Cemetery.  Memorials to the Des Moines Adventist School can be left at the funeral home.

   Wayne, the son of Johnson Dallas “J.D.” and Cynthia (Harmon) Pennock, was born February 25, 1934, near Benton in Ringgold County, Iowa.  He moved to Newton as a teenager and graduated from Newton High School in 1952.  Wayne was united in marriage with Joanne LaFavre on June 6, 1953, in Newton.  He farmed in rural Newton for many years and was also employed at The Maytag Company for over 29 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Wayne enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with his family, and traveling. 

   Wayne is survived by his wife, Joanne of Des Moines; children: Debra Worrell of Omaha, David (Heidi) Pennock of Camarillo, CA, and Tim (Andrea) Pennock of Windsor Heights; grandchildren: Daniel Worrell, Michael Worrell, Paul (Krystle) Worrell, Julie Marie (Abraham) Manyout, Ruth Worrell, Joseph Pennock, Grace Pennock, Hannah Pennock, Kendra (Justin) Flammger, and Cassandra (Jarred) Bridges; his great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Daniel Manyout, Willow Worrell, Brandon, McKenzie, and Henry Bridges; and Kynlee Flammger; and his cousins, including Derschel Pennock and Gordon Harmon.  He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Fred Worrell.
