William “Bill” D. Corbett died Friday, December 13, 2024, in Rochester, MN. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Izaak Walton League–his favorite place to play pool in Newton–can be left at the funeral home.
Bill, the son of Herbert and Minnie (Colley) Corbett, was born December 14, 1935, in Newton. He married Lillian Reichel on December 14, 1982, in Newton. He had worked at Mendell’s Bakery in his younger years. He later worked as inspector at The Maytag Company from 1972 to 1992, when he retired. After his retirement, he worked as a delivery driver for Godfather’s Pizza and Domino’s. He enjoyed playing pool for many years. He also enjoyed shopping for bargains of all kinds.
Bill is survived by his 4 children: Marlene (Charlie) Barr of Rochester, MN, David (Kelly) Corbett of Hamburg, MN, William (Barb) Corbett, Jr. of Newton, and Marilyn Corbett of Rochester, MN; his stepchildren: Diana (Mark) Jackson of Spotsylvania, VA and Kimberly (George) Strausbaugh of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Jamie (Jayme) Conner, Mandy Conner, Afton Proudfit, Nicole Baumann, David Corbett, Jr., and Jonathan Smith; his step-grandchildren: Lara Jackson, George Strausbaugh and Stuart Strausbaugh; great-grandchildren: Savanna and Brookland; step-great-grandchildren: Rohnen, Ryan, Aaron, and McKenzie; his very good friends, Letha, Butch, and Dick; and his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian Corbett in 2019; his stepson, Tim Fox; and his 10 siblings: Gloria Mae Stoulil, Mildred Cline, Louise Dodge, Arlis Corbett, Kathryn Fields, Anna Jean Smith, Betty Cox, Helen Mick, Leroy Corbett, and Marge Harger.
