William Frederick “Bill” Lacy, 67, of Newton died on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Newton Union Cemetery Veteran’s Section. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bill, the son of William Ted and Mary (Kelly) Lacy, was born on November 29, 1954 in Grinnell. He grew up in Grinnell.  Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1975. In the Navy he was onboard USS John F. Kennedy in the 912 Air Transportation Occupations. He was a member of the “Bluehawks” attack squadron. On January 7, 1974, Bill was united in marriage with Debra Morgan. They made their home in Newton. Bill worked as a truck driver for Bisom Truck Line, Inc. and Gralnek-Dunitz Co. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping, canoeing, and spending time with family and friends. Bill had a great sense of humor and was a supportive, kind, loving and caring provider to his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Debra Lacy of Newton; daughters, Jennifer Padgett, Angie (Josiah) Maki, and Amber (Daniel) Oswalt, all of Newton; grandchildren, William Dalton (Madison) Lacy-Krall, Christopher Dillon (Cynthia) Lacy-Krall, Madalyn Maki, Amaryn Oswalt, Brannen Oswalt, Tyler Padgett, and Ethan Padgett; his great-grandchildren, Amelia, Malaki, Chance, and Jatara; siblings, Ronald (Deb) Lacy, Christine (Bill) Gregor, Elizabeth (Richard) McGee, Randall (Connie) Lacy, Gary (Linda) Lacy, and Michelle Lacy; and his many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, William Ted Lacy and mother, Mary Bernhart.
