Wilma J Stolz, 95, of Newton died on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. No services are scheduled at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation. Memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home.
Wilma, the daughter of Raymond and Bertha (Sargent) McDonald, was born on November 15, 1925 in Pacific Junction, Iowa. She grew up in Pacific Junction and graduated from high school there. Wilma was united in marriage with James Stolz on November 23, 1945 in Mystic. They made their home in Newton where Wilma worked at the Vernon Company for many years, retiring in 1987. At Vernon’s she served as a Union Official. After retirement, Wilma moved to Des Moines. She enjoyed crocheting and tatting.
Wilma is survived by her brother, Melvin (Stella) Epperson of San Marco, California; niece, Rebecca (Steve) Woodward of Michigan; nephews, David (Francie) Epperson of Vermont, Marvin (Cindy) Epperson of Michigan, and Doug (Cindy) Reeves of California; her many great and great-great-nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Sandy Sieve of Des Moines; step-grandsons, Jayson Martin and James Joseph Martin; long-time good friend, Doris Altemeier; and her dog companion the last 14 years, Scamp. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Stolz; son, Robert Stolz; and a sister, Lois Reeves.
