Alice Rosetta (Davis) Bunker

June 21, 1924 ~ October 10, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Alice Rosetta Bunker, 92, of Newton died on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Skiff Medical Center.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2016, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 13, at the funeral home.  Memorials to the Center Friends Church or Amboy Grange may be left at the funeral home.

Alice, the daughter of Henry E. and Marie Carleone (Haines) Davis, was born on June 21, 1924 in Mystic, Iowa.  Her family moved to Newton when she was a young girl.  Alice graduated from Newton High School in 1942.  After graduation, she worked as a secretary and sales person at Farm Bureau where she would meet her future husband, Raymond Bunker.  On September 18, 1949, Alice and Raymond were united in marriage at the Center Friends Church in rural Newton.  The made their on a farm Northeast of Newton, where Alice resided until the time of her death. Alice was a homemaker, a farmer’s wife, and also skilled at accounting, doing all the bookkeeping for the farm.  Alice liked to collect hummingbirds and enjoyed watching birds at her feeders. She enjoyed going to Newton Cardinal sporting events, doing word puzzles and Sudoku, playing cards and Yahtzee, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.  Alice was also famous for her pies, spaghetti sauce, and peanut butter balls.

Those left to honor Alice’s memory are her son, Dennis Bunker of Newton; daughter, Karen (Dale) Dorrell of Newton; four grandchildren, Kyle (Brea Valenzuela) Bunker of Salt Lake City, Utah, Michael (Beth) Dorrell of San Diego, California, Gabriel (Jen) Dorrell of Monticello, and Angela (Josh) Burnham of Grinnell; her five great-grandsons, Ethan, Noah, Elijah, Philip, and Titus; and her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Bunker; brother, Billy (Barb) Davis; and two sisters, Bessie Clemons and Doris (Ken) Trotter.
