Beverly (Propst) Wilkening

Beverly Wilkening, 87, of Newton died on Saturday, January 5, at her home.  A memorial service for both her and her husband, William “Bill” Wilkening who died in 2015, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 10, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.

Beverly, the daughter of Ott and Anna Ellen (Suthers) Propst, was born on September 15, 1931 in Marshalltown.  She graduated from Marshalltown High School.  Beverly was united in marriage with William “Bill” H. Wilkening on April 29, 1956 in Marshalltown.  They made their home in Newton.  Beverly was a homemaker most of her married life, but also worked at the Newton Motor Inn for nine years.  She enjoyed working in her rose garden and watching NASCAR.

Beverly is survived by her children, Gary (Mary) Wilkening of Monroe and David Wilkening of Newton; grandchildren, Ryan Wilkening, Nicole Mendenhall, and Jared (Crystal) Wilkening; and her five great-grandchildren, Reed, Maddison, Connor, Liam, and Brynlee.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; four sisters; and one brother.
