Carol E. (Reeder) Robinson

Carol’s memorial service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 15th at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 10 a.m., Thursday until the time of service.

Carol Everetta Reeder was born October 6, 1924, in Tama County to Carl Reeder and Bessie Brown Reeder, as the eighth of nine siblings.

Carol moved to Newton at age 18 to work at the Maytag Company during the war production era.  She met her future husband, Kenneth Robinson in Newton in 1946 after his discharge from the service and they were married on November 5, 1946, in Pleasantville, Iowa.

She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ.  She was also active in Newton Chapter No. 100 Order of the Eastern Star and held many officer positions including being Past Worthy Matron.  She worked part time for many years at the Maytag/Midtown Café.  Carol enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, travel, cards, and board games.

Carol died on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at her home in Newton Village in Newton. She was 93. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; great grandson Jayden Robinson in infancy and her 8 siblings.

Those left to honor Carol’s memory are her two sons, Glen Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa, and Randal (Pat McGivern) Robinson of Waterloo, Iowa; her four grandchildren, Sean Robinson, Melissa (Sam) Stravers, Ashley (Justin) Mecham, and Brian (Reanne) Robinson; and her great grandchildren Rylan and Lillie Robinson, Stella and Iris Stravers, Hunter Knowles and Justin Mecham, Jr.
