Cloyd Byan Swarts

A memorial service for Cloyd will be held at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton.

Cloyd Byan Swarts, the son of Bernard and Ada (Peckham) Swarts, was born September 30, 1935 in Moulton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Moulton High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. Cloyd was united in marriage with Sandra Colleen Moore on July 2, 1961 in Centerville.  He worked for the Maytag Company for 37.9 years before his retirement. He farmed outside of Newton for 50 years, which brought him great enjoyment. He was also a member of the UAW Local 997.

Those left to honor Cloyd's memory include his wife, Colleen of Newton; daughters, Susanne (Brian) Fort of Pompano Beach, Florida and Kim Swarts of Drakesville; grandsons, Branden Fort and Matthew Fort; his siblings: Boyd (Martha) Swarts, Deloyd Swarts, Carolene (Dave) Purvis, Floyd (Connie) Swarts, Vernon (Sheila) Swarts, and Lyle (Kaye) Swarts; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters: Ilene Sleeth, Colene Selvy, and Arlene De Cook.
