F. "Jackie" Longdin Obituary

Jackie’s memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 11th at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. Pastor Chad Jennings of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton will be officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a coffee time at the funeral home.

A private family burial will be held at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society may be left at the funeral home. If you are mailing the memorial to the funeral home, please add, ATTN: Longdin Family on the envelope.

F. Jacqueline “Jackie” Walker Longdin, the daughter of C. B. and Elizabeth Malprita Walker was born on January 16, 1937 in Hamptonville, North Carolina. She was a graduate of Grimsley Senior High School in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1955.

On April 14, 1956, Jackie was united in marriage with John Longdin II in North Carolina. They were blessed with two children, John III and Sherry. Jackie worked for the Jasper County Savings Bank (now US Bank) for 22 years. She had also worked for the Vernon Company, Newton Chamber of Commerce and Longdin’s Transfer. Jackie was a volunteer at the Information Desk at the Skiff Medical Center for 5 years. She also volunteered with Project Awake and Renew Newton. Jackie loved being with her family. She also enjoyed going out to eat with friends, shopping, gardening and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football. Jackie was a loving and caring wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend.

Jackie died on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the Comfort House in Pella. She was 81. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John in 2007.

Those left to cherish Jackie’s memory are her son, John III (Dee) Longdin of Newton; her daughter, Sherry (Mike) McCoy of Ames; four grandchildren, John Longdin IV of Newton, James Longdin of Newton, Michael (Mindy) McCoy of Ames and Krisane (Eric) Hineman of Castle Rock, Colorado; and her three great-grandchildren, Ben and Cora McCoy and Ethan Hineman.
