Wilma Irene Pearson, 81, of Newton passed peacefully in the early morning hours on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at her home at Newton Village. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 9, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be held in Maxwell at a later date. Memorials to Wilma’s family may be left at the funeral home.
Wilma was born in Story County to Herman and Rose Ann (Adams) Breer on April 26, 1937. She attended school in Maxwell. Wilma devoted her life to raising her four children and then went on to raise two granddaughters as well. She loved children and spent her life working in childcare- babysitting for many and always taking care of others.
Wilma’s greatest joy came from spending time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed country music, puzzles, crosswords, a good game of cards or Yahtzee, spending time with her girls, eating out, shopping, and giving the staff at Newton Village a hard time. Wilma loved her coffee and making fried bread for her family. The past two years of declining health have been difficult yet she never complained. Whenever asked how she was doing her reply would be “Still kickin’, how are you?”
Those left to miss her are her children, David Pearson, Betty Kendall, Paula Duffy, and Angela Aalbers-Langstraat; 12 grandchildren, Chuck, Frank, Curtis, Tony, Dylan, Laken, Trinity, Jesse, Gavin, Parker, Finn, and Lennon; her many great-grandchildren; sister, Milly Lee; her special friend, Janet Miller, who was like a daughter to Wilma; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Denisia Rose Pearson and Eugina Keleher; five brothers; and three sisters.
