Barbara Antle Obituary

Barbara “Barb” Mae (Dearinger) Antle, 74, of Newton died on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Barb’s name (checks made payable to Carrie Gilbert) may be left at the funeral home.

Barb, the daughter of Martin and Lois (Laffoon) Dearinger, was born on March 22, 1948 in Newton. She grew up in the Galesburg and Killduff areas.  Barb was united in marriage with Weston “Wes” Antle and they were blessed with two children: Robert and Carrie. They made their home in rural Killduff and later in Newton. Barb did in-home housekeeping for many years and later worked in housekeeping at Grinnell Regional Medical Center and Skiff Medical Center.  After she retired, Barb moved to Altoona. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Barb enjoyed bird watching, crocheting, watching HGTV, and collecting baskets, snowmen, and crosses. Barb loved spending time with her family and enjoyed many craft shows with her daughter, Carrie.

Barb is survived by her daughter, Carrie (Todd) Gilbert of Newton; daughter-in-law, Amy Antle of Newton; her grandchildren, Shane (Paige) Jansen, Dusti Antle, Jarrett Antle, Taylor Alter, and Chelsea Alter; her great-grandson, Eli Stoner and one more great-grandchild on the way; and her sister-in-law, Judy Dearinger of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bob Antle in 2018; and brother, Harry Dearinger.
