Bob’s memorial service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 3rd at the First Christian Church, 314 E. 2nd St. N. in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, July 2nd at the First Christian Church in Newton.

Burial with military honors will be in the Veteran’s section of the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the First Christian Church or to the ARL of Iowa. The memorials may be left at the church at the times of the visitation and memorial service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. If you are mailing the memorial to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Price Family on the envelope.

Bob, James Robert Price, the son of George and Doris Marlowe Price was born on July 6, 1935 in Decatur, Alabama. He lived in Decatur, Alabama in 1935; the family moved to Trinidad, Texas from 1936-1942 and then to Burlington, Iowa from 1942-1974. Bob was a graduate of Burlington High School in 1953. He honored his country by serving in the U. S. Marine Corps from September of 1953 to August of 1956 during the Korean War. Bob returned home and received his BA from the University of Iowa and his CLU-CHFC from the American College in Pennsylvania.

Bob lived in Ottumwa, Iowa from 1974-1976. On February 28, 1976, Bob was united in marriage with Janice L. Williams in Ottumwa. They moved to Newton, Iowa in 1976, where Bob lived until his passing.

Bob was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and worked as a Master Tax Advisor with H & R Block. He had also worked as an insurance agent and had been a minister.​ He was a member of the First Christian Church, NAEA (National Association of Enrolled Agents), NATP (National Association of Tax Professionals) and the Kellogg Lions Club. Bob enjoyed being with his family. He also enjoyed canoeing, camping, bicycling and cooking.

Bob died on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 82. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kristina; and granddaughter, Sabrina.

Those left to honor Bob’s memory are his wife, Janice of Newton; sons, Charles (Grace) Price of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Scott (Paula) Price of New York, New York; granddaughters, Tess Price and Ella Price, both of New York; his dog, Snickers; sisters, Mary Lederer of Tucson, Arizona and Sarah (James) Geng of Tampa, Florida; brother-in-law, James (Lyn) Williams of Ottumwa; sisters-in-law, Junella (Steve) Jones of Ottumwa and Julie Williams of Ottumwa; and his many nieces and nephews.
