Daniel Van Fleet Obituary

Daniel Lee Van Fleet, 68, of Newton, died on Monday, March 14, 2022, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center after a short illness. Per Dan’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project may be left at the funeral home.

Dan, the son of Kenneth and Mary (Beach) Van Fleet, was born on August 7, 1953, in Newton. On March 10, 1972, Dan was united in marriage with Glenda Bolkema in Ames. He served his country as a part of the U.S. Marines in Vietnam.

Dan is survived by his daughters, Lori Hewett of Chandler, Arizona, and Stephanie Yoakum of Prairie City; and several grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenda Van Fleet in 2014; and daughter, Stacy L. Suttek in 2020.
