Obituary

Daniel “Danny” “Boone” Wayne Dickerson, 67, of Newton, died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Newton Healthcare Center. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials in Danny’s name (checks to Jeri Smith) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Danny, the son of Glen T. and Bevrylee (Tool) Dickerson, was born on November 6, 1955. He grew up in Jasper County and lived primarily in Newton and Monroe. He worked at the Maytag company for a short period and spent most of his working life as an over the road truck driver. Danny enjoyed motorcycles, spending time with friends, and was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Danny is survived by his daughter, Jeri Smith of Newton, a granddaughter, Abby Smith, a grandson Mason Smith, a sister, Glenda (Ted) Wing and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Doug Dickerson, Randy Dickerson, Denise Vander Putte, Tammy Dickerson, and Deb (Gary) Selby.
