David White Obituary

David Paul White, 68, of Newton unexpectedly flew away on Life Flight and then shortly after midnight on Friday, May 21, 2021 he caught his train to take him to the Great Racetrack in the Sky. A private family graveside service will be held at Newton Union Cemetery.  Memorials to the Jasper County Historical Society or the Marshall County Fair Board (to be used for the stands at the Marshalltown Speedway) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dave the son of Paul V. and Betty C. (McDaniel) White, was born on August 9, 1952 in Newton.  He graduated from Newton High School in 1971.  Dave was united in marriage with Karen Hayes on June 25, 1971 in Newton.  He worked for the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 2001.  During his time at Maytag he also ran White Drywall, which he continued after retirement.  He was a member of the UAW Local 997. Dave was an avid race fan and enjoyed attending the races in Marshalltown on Friday nights and Boone on Saturday nights.  He also loved getting his two grandsons to help him with projects and jobs.  Dave was a proud Newtonian and knew so much about the history and stories of Newton.

Dave is survived by his wife, Karen White of Newton; two daughters, Michelle (Rod) Jenkins of Newton and Amanda White (Nate Scott) of Grand Island, Nebraska; two grandsons, Malachi Jenkins and Isaiah Jenkins; and his aunt, Jane McDaniel of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
