Debra Mohler Obituary

Deb S. Mohler, 64, passed away with family by her side on June 10, 2022, at MercyOne Johnston Hospice Care in Johnston.  A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to MercyOne Johnston Hospice Care, 5820 Winwood Dr. Johnston, IA 50131.

Deb was born November 8, 1957, in Newton to Howard and Shirley (Schwarz) Heck. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1976. Shortly thereafter she married Michael Mohler in 1978.  From this union came two children, Josh and Aleatha. Deb worked in the healthcare industry for many years, making life-long friendships wherever she worked, before retiring from PDP in Newton in January of 2022. Deb was a superfan of the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, and NASCAR racing. Deb was also an avid greyhound rescuer, fostering and owning many retired greyhounds throughout her life.  Deb was a proud parent and grandparent. She loved being able to support her family in all activities they pursued. 

Those left to honor Deb’s memory are her mother Shirley Heck of Newton; son, Josh (Angie) Mohler of Newton and their three children, Taylor Wright, Kaleb Barton, and Drew Mohler; her daughter, Aleatha (Brad) Harbin of Bellevue, Nebraska and their daughter, Allison Harbin. She is also survived by her brother, Dave (Robin) Heck of Newton ; a niece and nephew; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends. 

Deb was preceded in death by her father, Howard Heck; grandparents, John and Mabel Schwarz and Nick and Olive Heck; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
