Doris Butcher Obituary

Doris Faye Butcher, 76, of Grinnell died on Monday, March 25, 2024, at The Bridges at Ankeny. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials in Doris’ name may be left at the funeral home (checks to Deneen Hotchkin).

Doris, the daughter of George and Dixie (Kettle) Clark, was born on April 3, 1947 in Milton. She grew up in New Sharon. On July 26, 1964, Doris was united in marriage with Dale Butcher.   Their marriage lasted 42 years and during that time they lived in Tama shortly and then made their home in Grinnell. Doris was a stay-at home mom and did in-home daycare for many years.  She loved to work in her flower garden, crochet, knit, and collect elephants. She also liked to camp, fish, play cards and Bingo, and do puzzles. Doris loved spending time with her family and was affectionately known in her apartment complex as “Queen Bee”.

Doris is survived by her children, Deneen Hotchkin (Mark) of Mesa, Arizona and Darell (Amy) Butcher of Altoona; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Olivieri, Kiley (Matt) McAtee, Jordyn (James) Reth, Ethan Butcher, and Zoee Butcher; her great-grandchildren, Tatum, Jaxstin, Harper Jo, Aryana, Jameson, Jayla, and Miles; siblings, Alice Bogaards of Grinnell, Linda Eklofe of Arizona, Dan “Bear” (Anna) Clark of Oskaloosa, and Don (Sherri) Clark of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-infancy, Ronnie Clark; and son-in-law, Will Hotchkin.
