Elizabeth McGee Obituary

Elizabeth “Beth” Agnes McGee, 79, of Kellogg, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials in Beth’s name (checks made payable to Carl McGee) may be left at the funeral home. 

Beth, the daughter of James and Adella (Miller) Keith, was born on December 14, 1940 in Melcher-Dallas.  As a young child her family moved to Knoxville and then at the age of nine, following her mother and brother’s death, they moved to Newton. Beth graduated from Newton High School and later received degrees as a Nurse’s Aide and an Emergency Room Technician from Marshalltown Community College.   Beth was united in marriage with Darrell DeKoning on June 28, 1958. Following his death on June 28, 1977, Beth was united in marriage with Carl McGee on May 16, 1987 in Kellogg.  Beth worked at Skiff Medical Center for many years and later made pies and baked good for Midtown Café.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Beth is survived by her husband, Carl McGee of Kellogg; children, Mark (Chrissy) DeKoning of Unionville, Missouri and Julie (John) Cummins of Newton; her step-children, Ronnie McGee of Des Moines, Ray (Joleen) McGee of Newton, Rick (Sandy) McGee of Newton, and Rebecca (James) Harned of Newton; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; and her many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Darrell DeKoning; son, Scott DeKoning; granddaughter, Mandi Ehler-McGee; and nine brothers and sisters.
