Gary Gilbert

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

    Gary, the son of William Baxter Gilbert and Mary Marie June Williams, was born July 23, 1951, in Iowa City. He grew up in the Cedar Rapids area. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served his country as a mechanic in the Vietnam War. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 30 years, retiring in 2017. Gary enjoyed fishing, stock car racing, and wrestling.

    Those left to honor Gary’s memory include his children:  Becki Martin of Marion, Tammy (John) Moore of Newton, Gary (Andrea) Gilbert of Anamosa, and Tonia (Jenny) Tasker of Hiawatha; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a sister, Renee Powers of WA.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sandra Coverdill and Mary Marsh.
