A memorial service for Gladys will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday August 14, 2020, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed during the service and lunch. Masks are encouraged but not required.
A private family burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Memorials may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. If you are mailing your memorial to the funeral home please add, Attn: Sparks Family on the envelope.
Gladys G. Wynn Sparks, the daughter of Ira and Jessie Viola Cleair Wynn was born on April 16, 1922 in Lovilia, Iowa. She was a graduate of Lovilia High School in 1939.
On January 13, 1940, Gladys was united in marriage with Roscoe Keeton. They were blessed with two children, Larry and Sandra. Gladys was later united in marriage with Wilbur Sparks in December of 1976. She was a sales assistant for Iowa Southern Utilities in Newton for 25 years, retiring in 1980. Gladys was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton and a former member of the Lovilia Chapter of OES.
Gladys died on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton. She was 97. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepson, Laverne Sparks; son-in-law, David Murrow; and brother, Edgar Wynn.
Those left to cherish Gladys’ memory are her children, Larry D. (Debbie) Keeton of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Sandra Keeton Murrow of Mitchellville; her stepson, Royce (Connie) Sparks of Newton; seven grandchildren, Chris, Clint, Chad, Curt, Mike, Annette and Betsy; and her 15 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
