Henry Wright McLaughlin

Henry Wright McLaughlin, the three-month old son of Matt and Nicole (McCoy) McLaughlin, died on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Newton Church of The Way. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Henry McLaughlin and left at the church the day of the service or at the funeral home.

Henry was born on July 2, 2021 at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.  During his time at Mercy Children’s in Des Moines the medical staff loved and cared for him and became a part of his and his parent’s family.  Henry was soothed and calmed by music and his Libby Ann Blanket. 

Henry’s fighting spirit will be carried on through his parents, Matt and Nicole McLaughlin of Newton; siblings, Carter, Trent, and Lainey Vander Schel and Zach, Tyler, Austin, and Noah Keenan; his grandparents, Wayne and Kim McCoy of West Des Moines and Mark and Dottie McLaughlin of Grinnell; great-grandmother, Dorothy McCoy of Newton; his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friend, Darian Morrison; and the medical staff at Mercy Children’s. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandma, Judy McCoy and several great-grandparents.
