Jeremy James Stevens

Jeremy James Stevens, 27, of LeGrand died on January 24, 2021, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 1, at the Moose Lodge in Newton with a meal to follow. Memorials in Jeremy’s name to be used for his son Troy (checks made payable to Anthony Stevens) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jeremy, the son of Tony and Penny (Petrie) Stevens, was born on December 23, 1993, in Newton, Iowa. He spent most of his life in Newton and the surrounding areas. Jeremy attended school in Newton and Grinnell, later receiving his GED. Jeremy was united in marriage with Tara Christy on December 18, 2013.  He worked as a mechanic. He loved to work with his hands, and he shared this passion with his son Troy by fixing trucks with him. Jeremy’s passion to fix things extended to buying anything he could repair, especially cars, and trading them once they were as good as new. Jeremy also found enjoyable ways to relax. When he wanted to get outside, he took his son Troy to the park, and when he was looking to stay inside to relax, Jeremy filled his time watching YouTube videos.

Jeremy is survived by his wife, Tara Stevens of Newton; children, Troy Stevens and Justyce Wyatt; step-daughter, Teal Stevens; children he loved as his own, Ashad Powell, T.J. Powell, and Kahnner Collum; siblings, Samantha Sells of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Anthony (Candice) Stevens of Guernsey, Iowa, Adam Petrie of Wisconsin, Shawna Stevens of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brandie (Kevin) Wallace of Victor, and Brandon Stevens of Newton; a cousin he was close to, Jordan (Karen) Stevens of LeGrand; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents, and his paternal grandfather.
