Jerry Wayne “J.J.” Stewart, Jr., 45, of Newton, died Saturday, April 17, 2021, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to J.J.’s family can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Checks can be made payable to Beverly Stewart.
J.J., the son of Jerry Wayne and Beverly (Chance) Stewart, Sr., was born May 1, 1975, in Newton. He attended school in Colfax. J.J. was a mechanic, having done work on his own and working at the Walmart Auto Center for 13 years. J.J.’s true passion was working on vehicles.
J.J. is survived by his son, Colton (Marissa) Stewart of Rogersville, Missouri; his parents, Jerry and Beverly Stewart, Sr. of Newton; his siblings: Ann (Pat) Morrow of Clinton, Tim (Heather) Sholley of Newton, Vernon (Melinda) Sholley of Omaha, Scot Stewart of Newton, and Audra Lewis of Newton; his 9 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; his aunt and uncles: Carolyn Sullivan, Kenny Chance, Rich Chance, Tim Chance, and Chuck Chance, all of Newton; and his beloved cat, Mister.
J.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Nola Stewart and Frank and Veronica Chance; and a niece, Chrystal Morrow.
