Jo Linda (Koon) Koon

Jo Linda Koon, 50, of Newton died on Saturday December 3, 2022, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends after the service with a coffee time at the church.  Memorials in Jo Linda’s name (checks made payable to Brian Koon) may be left at the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. 

Jo, the daughter of Joey and Linda (Moredock) Koon, was born on February 27, 1972 in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1991. In high school she worked at Mason’s Restaurant and later she worked in housekeeping at Ramada Inn. Jo enjoyed coloring, fishing, playing cards, and her animals.  She had a huge heart and was willing to help everyone. 

Jo is survived by her children, Brian (Anna) Koon of Winterset, Thomas Yoakum of Baxter, and Jada Yoakum of Baxter; two grandchildren, Davey Koon and Carly Koon; her mother, Linda Koon of Newton; sisters, Cindy Hautekeete (Vickie Gallimore) of Apex, North Carolina, Connie Molstad of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Debora Lammey of New Sharon, and Janel Koon of Newton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her significant other, Rick Norris of Newton. She was preceded in death by her father, Joey Koon and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
