Lila F (MacKaben) Arrowood

Lila F. Arrowood, 87, of Kellogg died on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.  No services are scheduled at this time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lila’s name to continue to support the various charities she loved may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (checks made payable to Vickie Reaves). 

Lila, the daughter of Frederick Leopold and Dorothy Lois (Drane) MacKaben, was born on May 12, 1933 in Broadus, Montana.  She graduated from Broadus High School before moving to Des Moines to attended Bible College.  As her children were growing up, Lila continued to live in Des Moines and was a talented seamstress making many of her children’s clothes and also matching outfits for the family’s quartet.  She later spent time between South Dakota and Iowa.  Lila was always a historical buff and loved Victorian architecture.  In her 60’s she enjoyed owning tea rooms called Roses Forever in Northeast Iowa.  On February 14, 2015, Lila was united in marriage with Richard Arrowood. They made their home in Des Moines.  Following Richard’s death, Lila moved to Kellogg.  

In all of the places Lila called home she was always dedicated to serving her church.  Until recently she hosted Tuesday prayer group in her home.  Lila was a talented artist and realized in her 70’s how much she enjoyed painting and drawing.  She also was very patriotic, supported conservative leaders, and had quite the green thumb.  Lila was an avid reader and a coffee connoisseur. Most important to Lila was her family that she loved and cherished.

Lila is survived by her children, Vickie (Sam) Reaves of Newton, Melody (Duane) Remington of Sommerset, South Dakota, Shelly (Ken) Ridinger of Kalispell, Montana, Rhonda (Randy) Minner of Malcom, Dan (Ginger) Mielke of Cresco, and Tammy (Steve) VanderWaal of Greenville, North Carolina; step-children, Rick (Kerrie) Arrowood of Des Moines, Kristie (Paul) Robinson of Columbia, South America, Denise O’Mealy of Missouri; her many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Everett (Jeri) MacKaben of Prescott, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Arrowood; brother, Carl MacKaben; and the father of her children, Merle Mielke.
