Lynn Louise (Foster) Van Maaren, 67, of Monroe, died on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials to the Gift of Life Transplant House may be left at the funeral home.
Lynn, the daughter of Orville and Thelma (Dewey) Foster, was born on February 2, 1954, in Newton. Lynn lived most of her life in the Newton area. She graduated from Newton High School in 1973 and continued her education by receiving an associate degree from DMACC. On May 18, 1974, Lynn was united in marriage with Robert “Bob” Van Maaren in Newton. During their lives together, Lynn worked on their farm and was a housewife. She was also a real estate agent in Newton for several years. When she wasn’t working, Lynn crafted and quilted. She was also a wonderful cook.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Van Maaren of Monroe; children, Ryan Van Maaren (Jill Milligan) of Colfax and Jana (David) Schultz of Colfax; grandchildren, Ava and Kayley; and brother, Michael “Mike” (Diann) Foster of Waukee. She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal and maternal grandparents; and brothers, Dennis Foster, James Foster, and Stephen Foster.
