Michael E Miller

Michael “Mike” Eddie Miller, 69, of Newton died on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends immediately after the service.  Memorials in Mike’s name (checks made payable to Erik Miller) may be left at the funeral home.

Mike, the son of Laurel and Velma (Last) Miller, was born on February 22, 1955 in Newton.  He graduated from Newton High School in 1974.  After graduation, Mike served his country in the U.S. Army until 1976. Mike then returned to Jasper County and worked as a policeman in Baxter and for the Jasper County Jail. He later would work in the factory at Midwest Manufacturing and TPI.  Mike enjoyed guns, fishing, camping, and model rockets.  He also liked to participate in motocross racing.

Mike is survived by his sons, Erik Miller (Mia Carman) of Newton and Michael Valentine of Des Moines; grandchildren, Gabrial Miller, Arihanna Miller, and Isabella Carman; and his sister, Nancy (Gordan) Holem of Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Laurel, Jr., David, and Ronald Miller.
