Roger Daniels Obituary

Roger Eugene Daniels, 61, of Newton died on Friday, September 25, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.  The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2020, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital may be left at the funeral home.

Roger, the son of Eugene and Bonnie (Leopard) Daniels, was born on February 17, 1959 in Ottumwa.  He grew up in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School.  He then attended Indian Hills Community College for their welding program.  Roger moved to Des Moines after completing his schooling. On May 18, 1980, Roger was united in marriage with Kerri Langford in Altoona.  They made their home in Newton in the mid 80’s.  Roger worked for 26 years at John Deere in Ankeny, most recently as an Engineering Supervisor. Roger loved spending time with his family, going on drives, fishing, cooking, and music.  He also enjoyed traveling and going on family trips.

Roger is survived by his wife, Kerri Daniels of Newton; three children, Megan (Matt) Schaffer of Urbandale, Aaron Daniels of Altoona, and Emma Daniels of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Nash and Landry Daniels; his mother, Bonnie Chandler of Ottumwa; sister, Barbara (Emory) Murray of Hartford; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Daniels; step-father, Russell Chandler; and sister, Debra Munley.
