Rose Mary’s funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 12th at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. Conducted by Deacon Tom Hardie of St Anthony's Catholic Church in Knoxville.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 11th at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to MercyOne Newton Foundation for WISH. Memorials may be left at the church on the morning of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Rose Mary Durbala Cobbs, the daughter of Carl and Bernice Miller Durbala was born on October 16, 1930 in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1949.
On October 7, 1949, Rose Mary was united in marriage with Donald A. Cobbs in Newton. They were blessed with five children, Donna, Robert, Michael, Teresa and Bernice. Rose Mary was a CNA at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton for 47 years, working mostly in the OB Department. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and a former member of the Newton Women’s Bowling League. Rose Mary loved having her family with her. She also had enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Rose Mary died on February 8, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center in Newton surrounded by the love of her family. She was 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald in 2006; daughter, Donna A. Reynolds; and three brothers, Carl, Paul and Dennis Durbala.
Those left to cherish Rose Mary’s memory are her children, Robert A. (Pam) Cobbs of Cresco, Michael S. Cobbs of Newton, Teresa M. (Paul) Klein of Newton and Bernice A. (Duane) Springer of Runnells; ten grandchildren, Kristopher (Kristi) Cobbs of Arizona, Joshua (Ben) Cobbs of Wisconsin, Shon (Cherie) Cobbs of Colorado, Brenda (Earl) Albertson of Searsboro, Heather (Brian) Pearson of Connecticut, Drew (Liz) Klein of Des Moines, MaKayla Klein (fiancé, Jace Wallerich) of Madrid, Alysia (Cody) Olson of Sheldahl, Morgan Springer of Africa and Taylar Springer of Runnells; 19 great-granchildren, Farell, Rose, Rachel, Cody, Riley, Ramey, Harper, Isaac, Jonah, Nathanial, Marissa, Imogen, Brianna, Madilynn, Lilah, Harrison, Wyatt, Liam and Lane.
