Russell "Rusty" C Hill

Russell “Rusty” Colin Hill, 59, of Altoona, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials in Russell’s name (checks made payable to Jodie Hill) may be left at the funeral home.

Russell, the son of Harvey and Myrna (Crook) Hill, was born on January 23, 1961 in Newton. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1980. On July 27, 1997, Russell was united in marriage with Jodie Wankum in Sioux City.  Russell worked for Pella Windows for 28 years, after retiring from there he worked at Quality Manufacturing in Urbandale for 8 years, retiring in 2018.  Russell was an avid race fan and enjoyed going to Iowa Speedway. He also enjoyed cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Dallas Cowboys.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

Russell is survived by his wife, Jodie Hill of Altoona; children, Lisa Brummell of Knoxville and Lindsay (Curtis) Sinnott of Pella; his grandchildren, Hilary Brummel, Dylan Brummel, Colin “C.J.” Smith, and Ava Sinnott; mother, Myrna Hill of Newton; sister, Diana (Delmar) Van Wyk of Newton; sister-in-law, Mari Hill of Newton; and his dog, Roscoe. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Hill; brother, Mark Hill; and two dogs, Dakota “Kota” and Lacey.
