Steven Horstman Obituary

Steve’s celebration of his life will be 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 2nd at the American Legion Post 111, 1101 W. 4th St. S. in Newton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the American Legion Post 111 in Newton, memorials may be left at the legion on the afternoon of the celebration of life or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Horstman Family on the envelope.

Steven Mark Horstman, the son of Marion Tex and Marjorie Brown Horstman was born on March 10, 1962 in Newton, Iowa.

Steven served his country in the U. S. Navy from October of 1979-December 1982. He was a trucker. Steven belonged to the American Legion Post 111 in Newton. He enjoyed being with his mom and having their lunch dates. He also enjoyed working on projects with his son, Fred; eating at new restaurants and he loved helping people finish their projects.

Steven died on Friday, April 20, 2018, at his home in Newton. He was 56. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Tex Horstman in 2009.

Those left to honor Steven’s memory are his son, Fred Horstman and his fiancée, Rachel Sheer of Des Moines; mother, Marge Horstman of Newton; his sisters, Teresa (Ron) Bougher of Des Moines, Carrie (Ty) Turner of Des Moines and Julie (Jim) King of Muncie, Indiana; several nieces and nephews, Rusty, Dawn and Jimmie and his many friends.
