Tammy Doreen (Henning) Pittman

Tammy Doreen Pittman, 53, of Ankeny died on Friday, January 17, 2020, at her home.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.  Memorials to Tammy’s Family (checks made payable to Sara Waldman) may be left at the church or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  

Tammy, the daughter of Donald D. and Esther R. (Crawford) Henning, was born on January 20, 1966 in Grinnell. She grew up in Kellogg, before moving to Newton in 1985. She also graduated from Newton High School in 1985.  Tammy worked from many years at Dairy Queen and then at Progress Industries before moving to Des Moines.  While living in the Des Moines area, she worked at KFC, McDonald’s, and most recently Kum & Go.  She was amazing with people and her customers loved her.  

Tammy enjoyed going to the movies, especially romantic comedies.  She also liked garage sales, puzzles, card games, shopping, and word search puzzles.  Tammy enjoyed collecting and had collections of key chains, angels, bears, thimbles, and ink pens.  She also spent time making pixel art on her phone. 

Tammy is survived by her children, Sara Waldman of Des Moines and Nicole (Dale) Gifford of Des Moines; grandchildren, Alexis Hicks, Andrew Kilgore, and Andrianna Kilgore; mother, Esther Henning of Newton; sister, RoseAnna Henning of Newton; her significant other, Steve Crowley of Ankeny; and her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Henning and sister, Mary Nolin.
